Website privacy notice
This notice covers the Legum Lex website. Enquiries sent through it go to the advocates of Nyay & Co., which provides the client portal and all legal services under its own privacy notice.
Who we are
Legum Lex, a registered partnership firm at Sector 10A, Sector 10, Chandigarh 160011, India, runs this website. You can reach us at info@legumlex.com.
What this website collects
It collects:
- What you write to the advocates. The home page invites you to describe a legal problem in your own words. Nothing is sent until you choose to send it. When you do, the enquiry goes to the advocates of Nyay & Co., not to Legum Lex, and Nyay & Co.’s privacy notice governs what happens to it from there. To send it you sign in with Google, so that the advocates know who wrote; you may be asked for a telephone number and, if you are abroad, the country you write from; and you may attach documents. An assistant reads what you have written first, to tell the advocates what kind of matter it is and to suggest which papers would help. It gives no legal advice.
- What you type but never send. If you start writing in the home page and go no further, the words stay in your own browser so the page can carry them from one screen to the next. They are not sent anywhere until you send the enquiry, and they are cleared when you do.
- Your matters. If you follow a “My matters” link from an email Nyay & Co. sent you after you wrote to its advocates, the page opens your matters: you sign in with Google, and Nyay & Co.’s privacy notice applies to what you see and send there, including any payment, which Razorpay takes on its own form.
- Small notes in your browser. Whether you chose the light or dark scheme, which audience the home page last showed you, and anything you have begun writing but not sent. They stay on your device.
- Two cookies needed for the site to work. A session cookie and a security cookie that protects against forged requests. Both are set by the software that runs the site, contain no personal profile, and expire within a day.
- Server records. Like most websites, the server keeps a record of requests: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
- Emails you send us. If you write to us, we use your address and message to reply.
The website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. If analytics are added later, this notice will be updated before they start.
Counsel profiles
Each counsel profile shows what Nyay & Co. publishes about that counsel’s professional life: name, courts, languages, qualifications, practice and a portrait. It never shows identity numbers or personal contact details. A counsel who wants a profile corrected or taken down can ask Nyay & Co., or write to info@legumlex.com.
Other services the page uses
Pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google’s servers, which receive your IP address. Google sign-in is used to send an enquiry, to open a “My matters” link and to sign in to the client portal; its code is loaded only on the pages that need it, so simply reading this website does not contact Google’s sign-in service at all. Where an enquiry carries a fee, Razorpay takes the payment on its own form under its own notice.
The client portal is different
Signing in to the client portal takes you into Nyay & Co.’s system, where Nyay & Co. decides how client information is used. Read Nyay & Co.’s privacy notice for that.
